Twitter Q&A with Stuart Potter – Biggest Journey
Categories: Cycling, Featured, Mental Health, Personal Journal

On Tuesday 26th June, I held a live twitter Q&A discussion about my biggest journey, how it went, and what was behind it…. read the whole conversation below, with a few extra comments and some pics thrown in.

@biggestjourney how did your nutrition strategy work out over the 3 days. what would you change/keep. #bigjourneytalks0

#bigjourneytalks I was lucky enough to be offered sports nutrition by @SponserUK – who helped with not just their products, but whole plan.0

Shannon from Sponser was super helpful – going over what I normally use in training and coming up with suggestions as to what to try. Most nutrition products, even those for longer ‘endurance’ events, tend to be for use over a max of 5 or 6 hours… so above that is tough to get right.
-
I had to test different nutrition plans during 2 months of training.. different drinks, Gels, Bars, cake

#bigjourneytalks I quickly decided that Gels are great for short rides, but too much of a fast hit on longer rides…0

This is Scott – he came and rode with me for 20 miles on the last day… because he saw I was only a few miles from his house on the live tracking. He’s a mental health nurse and he’d been on a training course with Mind that morning!Lovely guy… he sat on my wheel (I wouldn’t let him sit in the front as I felt I had to do this on my own) and he just kept encouraging me and telling me I was doing well… It was like I had the whole lot of my twitter followers sat on my wheel, supporting me. Brilliant.
